Evans Network Opens New Service Centers in the Southeast

Schuylkill Haven, PA (Dec. 22, 2008) – The Evans Network of Companies, a market-leading trucking and logistics partner, opened new service centers in Charlotte, N.C. near major highway networks and Charleston, S.C., close by the port facilities.

The Charlotte property at 225 Aqua Chem Drive is half a mile from the CSX railroad service and one mile from North Carolina States Port Authority facilities. The location was chosen because it is easily accessible to major interstates like 77, 85, 277 and 485. The gated, five-acre facility has a container yard and will have 24-hour security surveillance. This service center currently contracts with 15 owner-operators and after January 1 has plans to increase to 20 drivers.

Evans Delivery also opened a facility near the Port of Charleston, one of the busiest container ports on the east coast. The six-acre service center is situated at 2703 Azalea Drive, Building 2. Evans Delivery contracts with 48 drivers at this location. The service center has container storage capability, with 24-hour security and offers access to all ports, railroads and terminals in the Charleston area.

Bill Coleman, agent for Evans Delivery, operates both facilities.

“The slow economy will impact the growth of our business, but I believe we will triple our service next year due to our new service center capabilities,” Mr. Coleman said. “The Evans’ staff, financial support and user-friendly technology makes it easy to focus my efforts on expanding the business,” he continued. Mr. Coleman has been an agent with Evans since November 2006.

“These two southeast locations now offer competitive, direct access to better serve our customers,” said Mr. Albert “Bert” L. Evans, Jr., President and CEO of Evans Network. “Both are in a prime location, offering shippers quick and reliable service.”

Ohio-based K-Tec named to Weatherhead 100 list

Kinetic Technologies dba K-Tec has been named to the Weatherhead 100 list, a list of the top-growth companies in Northeast Ohio based on sales from 2003 through 2007.  Companies on this list must have had sales of more than $100,000 in 2003 and more than $1 million in 2007 and have had a minimum of 16 full-time employees in 2007. In 2002, at a time when industry in Northeast Ohio was struggling, founders Larry Tyler and John Neumann understood that lean manufacturing was the key to the future of manufacturing success and that there was a need for forklift alternatives.  In a corner of a plant in midtown Cleveland, K-Tec began manufacturing non-powered carts that could be hitched together and pulled in a train by a tugger. In its seven year history, the company has worked with General Motors, Ford, Parker Hannifin, Whirlpool, Value City/American Signature Furniture and Big Lots to design assembly lines, streamline production and improve warehouse/distribution center operations. K-Tec has always been a company to watch. In 2005, K-Tec received a Manny Award for manufacturing excellence from Inside Business magazine and CAMP, Cleveland Area Manufacturing Program now MAGNET. In 2007, the company ranked #1209 on the Inc 5000 list of fastest growing companies in the country between 2003 and 2006.  Also in 2007, K-Tec received an NEO Success Award from Inside Business. Now in its own plant in Wickliffe, OH, K-Tec serves markets throughout the United States and Canada. ChemLogix Automates Arizona Chemical Transportation Operations withOn-Demand TMS Solution

Looking to automate its transportation planning and execution operations, Arizona Chemical Company, LLC turned to ChemLogix, LLC for a web-based Transportation Management System (TMS) solution.   Previously, Arizona Chemical, the world’s largest producer of naturally derived specialty resins and pine-based chemicals, manually interfaced with chemical transport carriers by email and Fax to negotiate prices and schedule shipments for both domestic and export shipments from its six U.S.-based manufacturing plants.  In addition to being labor intensive, the manual processes were unreliable and inefficient. Utilizing the On-Demand TMS from ChemLogix, the international chemical company now has online carrier contracting and rate management capabilities and is interacting electronically with carriers to assign loads and track delivery status as well as monitor and report on freight costs and activities, including historical spend and carrier performance.  The system even permits carriers to update negotiated rates online, reducing Arizona Chemical’s workload so in-house resources can be deployed to other more critical tasks. With online visibility to carrier rates and lanes, Arizona Chemical can more cost effectively choose the right carrier for specific shipments.  Shipments are automatically routed based on cost and service considerations, and tendered and confirmed with the carriers via both EDI and web-based interfaces.  In support of its domestic, as well as export operations, the On-Demand TMS provides Arizona Chemical with the tools for dock and bulk rack scheduling to better manage assets between its plants, drivers and contracted carriers.   Because of the streamlined enrollment process offered by ChemLogix, TMS implementation at the chemical company took just seven months.  With the web-based TMS system, there were no requirements for servers, new databases or in-house technical expertise as would be required by a client server-based system. Operations went live in July 2008 at Arizona Chemical’s six domestic plants.  User-friendly system operations enabled ChemLogix to train a core team at Arizona Chemical, who then quickly rolled out functionality throughout the company.   Since implementation, the ChemLogix On-Demand TMS has improved Arizona Chemical’s freight operations in several key areas including online carrier contract and rate management, electronic shipment routing, automated carrier selection and real-time status updates. EuroCaspian Cargo Sales Appointment Facilitates Fast Transfers for TAAG

London, 15 December 2008- EuroCaspian Services Ltd have recently been appointed Cargo Sales agents for TAAG-Angola Airlines for the UK, Ireland and North America. With global airfreight specialists bumping up their pitch for a slice of Angola’s aviation pie, EuroCaspian’s tailored client services in the air, coupled with their ever-expanding dedicated representation on the ground, proved attractive to TAAG-Angola Airlines.

At the signing ceremony held recently in London, TAAG’s UK Representative, Joao Rodrigues, stated, “With Angola about to take over from Nigeria as the leading oil and gas producer in Africa there is expected to be a continued and growing dependence on Airfreight services.”

EuroCaspian Chairman, Sam Harris, a well-known air charter industry veteran and former Chairman of the Baltic Air Charter Association (BACA), the world’s largest and most prestigious network for air charter professionals, concurred with TAAG’s remarks.  Harris stated, “With oil and gas production levelling off in other areas, it is Angola that’s seeing remarkable growth at this time.  As such, there’s an increased need to move equipment as quickly as possible.  Air allows for the fast delivery of equipment and our cargo sales agents keep everything moving swiftly.”

As the ink dried on the paper, Sam Harris concluded, “EuroCaspian will be working to increase TAAGs’ share of the market by providing new and innovative measures to overcome the anticipated congestion that this rapid expansion will bring.”

Reporting steady growth in 2008, EuroCaspian’s freight monitoring capabilities offer benefits in areas like Angola, as the company can facilitate transfers and the tracking and tracing of shipments with an actual representative on the ground.
